Located near the White House this is a really nice place. It used to be an old back but now fine dining at its best. The service is amazing the staff really helpful and friendly. Our server helped us pick out what we ordered. We wanted to try stone crabs, which are usually in season from October to May. When they catch them, they take only one arm and release the crab as the arm/claw will regenerate. The stone crab was delicious very sweet when paired with the Joes mustard sauce. The rest of the dishes were equally amazing! They do not skimp out on the lobster or crab meat in the dishes. The creamed spinach was okay, I wish it was seasoned a little bit more. Other than that this was a great place for an amazing meal and experience.
I enjoyed the service! The food was amazing and the bartenders were very nice. The restaurant was beautiful inside and the bar was spacious enough for me to eat and not bump into the person next to me.
My family and I went for my daughter 25th birthday and the food was delicious and our waiter Joel was awesome!!
Top notch experience all the way around., from arrival to check out. We were greeted with warm hospitality on a cold day. We sat at the bar until our table for 5 was ready. It was semi crowded and noisy in the main seating area near the bar. We sat in the rear dining area, much quieter. Various warm bread was brought to the table. For appetizers the stuffed mushrooms were delicious and the calamari was a bit at the table. For the main entree, I ordered the Seafood Platter, a full plate of lobster, scallops and shrimp. It was the best trio I had in a while. For sides, the Brussels sprouts, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes rounded out the meal. After sipping down the Old Fashion #2, for dessert was the key lime pie and peanut butter pie both exquisitely rich, light and tasty. We all left with a full belly and wide smile. Thank you all. See you next time
Classic DC. Service is very attentive, food is fresh and quick, wine selection is wonderful. Our server had a great balance of checking on us but not being overly so, he also helped us choose a perfect wine for my bday dinner and then when I couldn't decide on dessert put a candle in all 3. Great for guests, business dinners, or a high quality date night
I have to say that I really loved dining at Joe's. It's a classic steakhouse dining experience plus seafood restaurant. They alsoa host of delicious pies for dessert, this place really does have it all. The dinner started strong with a bread basket that had small corn muffins, dinner rolls, and a thin Parmesan crusted cracker all served with a pat of butter. So delicious you could tell everything was fresh baked. For starters we got the spinach stuffed mushrooms topped with cheese, I could have eaten at least ten of those. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly, they were well stuffed, and topped with lots of melty cheese, For mains we split the Chilean sea bass which came with miso glaze and bok choy. It tasted so fresh and the fish was super flaky. Our filet mignon was cooked perfectly medium rare and had an amazing sear on the outside. We had to get dessert since we both love pies so we split the fudge pie and peanut butter pie. They were amazing I think the peanut butter might have been slightly better than the fudge pie but nothing is like the combination of the 2. Both come with an Oreo crust. The fudge pie tasted like it had one chocolate mousse layer and a thick whipped cream upper layer. The peanut butter had what tasted like a peanut butter mousse and both of them were topped with a hot fudge sauce. I got them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make it a la mode. I loved that you can order half slices, and I am telling you a half of a slice of each of these was plenty. The service was great, our waiter was wearing a tuxedo and he was super attentive. Food all came out right on time and he paced the dishes for us. I loved the atmosphere, it felt like just the fancy dinner I had been craving. This has certainly become my new favorite steakhouse in DC!
Had a great time at Joe's for Christmas Eve. We were greeted by Michael who was very courteous and respectful. We were seated in a comfortable booth. They have a more bar/casual area and the main dining space where it is more business casual. Our server checked on us multiple times and offered us great recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant is very typical and classy. Standouts of the night included Shrimp DeJonge ( SO GOOD!!!), and the seafood platter, where everything was cooked to perfection. The King Crab Linguine and Caesar Salad were good, though nothing outstanding. We've had better tuna tartare before, however we do understand this might not be the restaurant for this kind of dish. Their desserts are to die for, we absolutely loved their Key Lime Pie and their spin on the Tres Leches. If you visit Joe's, I would recommend ordering our favorites as above, you won't be disappointed. Solid 4.5/5.
Attended an event here recently and to say I was impressed would not do this place justice. I'm not one to dine in such a fancy establishment, and a true special occasion would be needed for me to come here. Luckily for me, one such event happened and I was able to set foot in the door. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted warmly and swiftly guided to where you need to be. The staff are super pleasant and genuinely glad that you are here. Every interaction I had with staff here was a great one, they are all very attentive. The event started with a wine and cocktail hour meant for mingling and networking. During this there was small bites floating around the room that gave you a glimpse as to the food to come. Once inside the room we were given a small menu created for the event four your main selection and then you were to share the rest on the table. I do not remember the four selection available, what I do remember was the filet I had. Once you let the server know your selection you were left to chat amongst the table and dive into the shareables. There were three to share, the Caesar salad, chopped salad, and stone crab. Of course there was bread to share as well, but everyone was diving into the main items on the table. With my allergies cleared up and me wanting to try new things, this was my first try of crab. I didn't dive completely in, but I did give it a try. You have to dip you toe in somewhere and I am happy that it was here. They know what they are doing. And it didn't hurt that they already cracked the crab for us. Once enough time was allotted for appetizers and mingling the main course started to arrive at the table. All the while drinks were being refilled. My filet was amazing as I had stated to dig into the main course. They served a few other things with the main. One being four cheese mac and cheese, which was a hit for the whole table. This place was a bit overstimulating at times that it made it hard to concentrate on what was going on right in front of me. It was a great experience overall and a great place to have a meal.
Still my favorite dining in DC! For steaks it's a toss up between here and Capital Grille. Service at both places is top notch and the food is very satisfying and never disappoints. You do get stone crabs here and both offer shellfish platters/towers but here they provide king crab legs, so this gives up a bump up. The steaks are cooked as asked, comes with complimentary bread basket and offers a kids menu too. Prices sure have gone up which was quite eye-popping. $89 for bone-in ribeye. Yikes. Why they still add 3% covid fee is beyond me. I've booked several private dining rooms for office party and milestone birthdays, which I also recommend when looking for a private dining venue. Make sure to join their LEYE frequent dining program and get $ back as credit towards a future meal here or RPM, Summer House, Mon Ami Gabi.
